Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett’s friendship goes well beyond “Cheek to Cheek.”
Gaga, who got engaged to longtime boyfriend and Chicago Fire star Taylor Kinney in February, has enlisted Bennett to perform at her upcoming wedding reception — and he accepted!
“They invited me to do it and, of course, I will,” the 88-year-old crooner told Page Six in an interview Monday.
As it turns out, Bennett is a huge fan of Gaga and Kinney’s relationship.
“She’s marrying a very wonderful man, very talented and very handsome,” he said. “I think he’s going be highly successful in films. He’s a very nice person.”
Gaga first met Bennett back in 2011 and the two teamed up to release the jazz album, Cheek to Cheek, in September 2014. Though they may make for an unusual pair — Bennett is a legendary jazz singer, while the oft trailblazing Gaga once made headlines for wearing a meat dress — the two seemingly hit it off, performing together at jazz festivals and award shows alike over the course of the past two years.
Kinney proposed to Gaga on Valentine’s Day 2015 with a heart shaped diamond with both of their initials engraved on the back. No word yet on when the nuptials will take place, but without giving anything away, Bennett teased that “knowing Lady Gaga, it will be fabulous.”
We wouldn’t expect anything less!
